What does an official identity card say about our actual identity? The importance of stating where you were born, your gender and your given religion probably says more about the nature of a country than an individual.
There are two types of ID card in Turkey. Blue is for men. Pink is for women.
Most Turkish men are obsessed with their own masculinity and, for them, having their photograph on a pink identity card would create feelings of insecurity. To me it is just a piece of paper.
In this work I transferred my blue ID card into pink and tried to examine the lines between masculinity and femininity. Does colour tell something about how we see the world or how the world treat us?
